Carlton Cox A Thirty Year Journey

Carlton’s exhibition “A Thirty-Year Journey” in printmaking has been inspired by scenes from within his local surrounds, particularly gardens, landscapes, and historic properties of the Tasmanian northern midland’s region.

Carlton regularly is travelling to other states and as a result his visual material and inspiration is from further afield and exciting imagery is coming into his work from a composition and colour point of view.

Linocut is mostly using the traditional technique of linocut, which evolved in the early 1900s from the age-old art of woodblock printing. Linocut generally produces a bold image with the use of rich oil-based inks that are layered to create a picture from individually hand carved blocks, one for every colour.
