‘Terrain’ Chee Yong

As a finalist in the Glover Prize exhibition Chee Yong with his painting “Terrain was a wonderful work in the exhibition standing tall and commanding.
‘Terrain’ celebrates the rugged landscape of Tasmania in an abstracted form. The painting depicts the complex beauty of the Tasmanian landscape layered textures and lines representing the dynamic forces that shaped the landscape from Gondwana shifts to earth moving diggers. Terrain speaks of the forces that shape Tasmanian landscape - erosion, growth and human interaction.
In September this year Chee is scheduled for a one person exhibition at Blenheim Gallery and Garden. Chee is an interdisciplinary visual artist currently interested in the ambiguities of mark making in abstract and representative paintings. Watch this space!
